Before your colleagues can enter their skills, you first have to specify a Skilltree. This Skilltree defines which skills are determined in your organisation and how they are structured.

How to create your Skilltree

  • Click on "Skilltree Builder"
  • Click and drag the category symbol from the left side onto the root node
  • Alternatively, you can add elements by right click
  • Enter a name for the new category
  • Click and drag the badge symbol onto the new category

Sidenote: You can choose between a normal badge, a gradational badge where you can add more levels or a template. Furthermore, you can create a hooked badge.
  • Enter the name of the new badge
  • Add more badges to create skills and group them into categories...

Tip! You can find more detailed information on creating badges in the help center under badge details.

Hooked Badge

A Hooked Badge is used to create a skill that is affiliated with a whole branch of skills / a category. It can be used for different use cases, such as when indicating that someone is capable of a certain branch, as well as someone who is solely responsible for the work of this branch in a company. For example, a marketing director could have a hooked badge in the marketing branch.

Tip! When setting skill requirements on a Hooked Badge that state, that all skills in the skill category/branch are required, a hooked badge gains in importance. Such linkage can be used when setting up learning and development paths or for digital onboarding processes.

Creating a Hooked Badge is quite simple. Follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Skilltree Builder.
  2. Then you should see the default branchy scheme. If you don't, go to the Global Settings -> User settings -> Skilltree Builder look. You can find more information here.
  3. Now that you're in the Skilltree Builder look, you'll have to click on the tab on your left called Skilltree elements. There you'll see a "Badge" button. Left-click on it, drag it, and drop it near the category that you want to make hooked.

Important: You'll have to wait until a green badge sign shows up near the badge, so that it looks like this.

Otherwise you'll just add a new badge!

And that's it! You've just made a hooked badge.

Happy managing!
